i haven't really mentioned it before, but a theme i really, really love in cartoons is tranformation. it's not my fetish or anything; i just enjoy seeing characters as different species or genders, with different colour-schemes, fat or thin, young or old, etc. i think it's neat!
i'm no good at transformation art, though. there are a few artists on furaffinity/deviantart who are incredible at it, though. spookaboo is one of them. fyuvix is another! i'm a fan of both of their work and they constantly inspire me. someday i'd love to commission saria or jo art from them, but that wont be for a long time, cos i don't have money to spend right now!
my dad had to go to birmingham for a surgical ablation yesterday to hopefully slow the growth of the tumours on his liver. i had to babysit and dogsit, as well as clean up after my sisters all day. i was exhausted when i finally had a chance to lay down, but it was too hot to sleep (i hate alabama summers :I), so i drew for a few hours instead. i'm really rusty, gosh. i feel like i've forgotten how to draw completely! i managed to 'finish' a couple of drawings. i'm not happy with how they turned out, but i'll post them here cos WHY NOT:

i didn't realise this pose was so similar to the one i drew saria in. OOPS. anyway, reynoi/boogans was one of the first people i met when i started using deviantart in 2008. they're actually the reason i joined furaffinity in the first place! back then, my username was asis-rhamxa. so dumb.
anyway, this is their character, 'boo'. i had the pleasure of watching him change and evolve over the years, and was always very fond of his colours/various designs! i'm not sure if his creator draws him anymore or has gotten rid of him for good, but i still like him. you can find their artwork over on their furaffinity!

this is boatswain. he's one of my favourite characters, belonging to one of my most favourite artists, bluesman! i don't think i'll ever be able to draw him correctly, and i don't know why he ended up looking so evil in this doodle.. but he's always fun to doodle!
anyhoo, boatswain is one of the most unique-looking characters i think i've ever seen, and every time his creator draws him, it makes me very happy!
i'm thinking of picking up a box of cheap clay and acrylic paints next time i happen to be at the store so i can start experimenting with sculptures. as much as i love looking at other people's art and as much as it inspires me to draw my own, i don't actually enjoy drawing all that much! maybe i take it too seriously or something, i dunno. i want to branch out and try new things; maybe find something i enjoy doing more than drawing on my tablet!
this week has been very draining, so now i want to just take it easy and enjoy the weekend. my favourite holiday is coming up next week, but we probably wont be celebrating since dad isn't in good shape after his surgery. it's a little disappointing :c i think i'm still going to try make our traditional fourth of july watermelon cake though. i can live without fireworks and boat rides, but not without my favourite watermelon cake! i'll have time off from babysitting too, and that always makes me glad!
